As a Research and Insight Designer, you will investigate complex challenges that sit across disciplines, sectors, and systems — generating the insights, frameworks, and understanding that inform strategic decision-making and innovation.

This role is centered on discovery, synthesis, systems understanding, and future-oriented inquiry. You will explore emerging trends, human behaviors, institutional dynamics, technological shifts, and societal transformations to help organizations better understand the changing world around them.

Research, Inquiry & Systems Exploration

  • Conduct interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research across social, technological, educational, economic, and organizational domains.
  • Investigate complex systems, stakeholder ecosystems, emerging trends, structural challenges, and future shifts.
  • Design and execute qualitative, mixed-method, desk, and exploratory research processes that uncover meaningful patterns, tensions, and opportunities.



Insight Development & Knowledge Synthesis

  • Synthesize large volumes of information into clear insights, frameworks, narratives, strategic implications, and thought leadership outputs.
  • Translate complex research findings into accessible reports, briefs, visual maps, and multidisciplinary knowledge artifacts.
  • Connect perspectives across disciplines to generate new ways of understanding complex organizational and societal issues.


Futures, Strategy & Collaborative Research Practice

  • Support strategic foresight, innovation, and transformation initiatives through evidence-based insight generation and systems understanding.
  • Collaborate with strategists, designers, experts, institutions, and stakeholders across sectors to inform future-oriented decision-making.
  • Contribute to the development of ERGO’s research methodologies, intellectual frameworks, and collaborative inquiry practices while staying engaged with emerging theories, debates, and global developments.
Relevant Experience and Mindset
We are looking for individuals who are deeply curious, thoughtful, systems-oriented, and passionate about understanding complexity across disciplines and contexts.

You may come from backgrounds such as research, social sciences, futures studies, systems thinking, education, public policy, behavioral research, innovation studies, anthropology, strategy, design research, or interdisciplinary inquiry.

You likely bring:

  • Experience conducting research, analysis, synthesis, or insight-generation work related to complex systems, emerging trends, or societal and organizational challenges.
  • Strong analytical and synthesis abilities, with the capacity to connect ideas across disciplines and translate complexity into meaningful insight.
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity, open-ended inquiry, and evolving problem spaces.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and storytelling skills, particularly in communicating nuanced ideas clearly and accessibly.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a habit of continuously exploring new domains, perspectives, and emerging developments.
  • Appreciation for collaborative inquiry and the role research can play in informing innovation, strategy, and systems transformation.
